ProQCC Source Code Distribution
I've been asked by a few people to release the source to ProQCC, and I've decided that
because Carmack had enough faith in the community to release the source to Quake, I should
as well, because without Quake there would be no ProQCC. Here it is, it's not much and
probably won't be of much use to people but incase anyone's modifying the Quake engine and
changes the progs format a little, feel free to modify ProQCC to your heart's content.
I've released it under the GPL, so any modifications you make and release must be
accompanied by the full source code to the modification, see LICENSE for the specifics.
Under dos I compiled it using DJGPP, I had a win32 console port going for a while, it was
slow as a dog but it ran. If you really want a win32 version the port isn't very hard to
make. All *nix versions were compiled using GNU gcc. The makefile included should be good
for any OS you're using.
It's hard to believe that the last release of ProQCC dated from about 2 1/2 years ago, it
really doesn't seem that long ago...
This will be the final release of ProQCC, it's been an awesome experience creating a
program that people have really found useful. There's really no words that can describe
the feeling I get when I find a page on the web about using a program I wrote, or receive
an email thanking me for creating the program. I would like to thank the Quake community
for giving me memories that will last long into the future.
